While the country is facing difficulties, 300,000 people are in urgent need of food aid right now.



The head of the UN World Food Program, who oversees local relief activities, was interviewed exclusively by reporter Kim Hye-young.

At least 2,200 people were killed, 12,000 were injured and more than 130,000 homes were damaged.



There are 1.2 million people groaning from the damage, which is about 10% of the total population of Haiti.

Frost Haiti, the deputy head of the United Nations World Food Programme, who oversees relief activities, told SBS in an interview with the terrible news from the field.



The most pressing need is food, with 300,000 people suffering from hunger.



Security has worsened since the assassination of the president two months ago, making it difficult to transport relief supplies.

UN believes that $187 million is needed immediately for food, drinking water, shelter supply, and emergency medical care.



The Korean government, which promised $1 million in aid to Haiti relief, decided to donate $500,000 of this to the UN World Food Programme.
