Lev Gumilyov is a Soviet and Russian scientist, historian, ethnologist who specialized in the nomadic peoples of Central Asia, orientalist, geographer, poet, translator and philosopher. He was born on October 1, 1912 in the family of Russian poets Anna Akhmatova and Nikolai Gumilyov. Having been convicted four times and having spent more than ten years in prison, Gumilyov did not stop his scientific searches, and wrote many significant works in forced labor camps. The scientist is known as the author of the passionate theory of ethnogenesis, which gave rise to heated discussions in scientific circles.
