China News Agency, Beijing, September 21st, title: "Pull the clouds and look over the sea to show your talents": The launch of Ocean II C star takes a key step in Samsung networking

  Author Guo Chaokai

At 13:40 on September 21, the Ocean II C satellite was successfully launched by the Long March 4B carrier rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, which was a crucial step for the subsequent three-star network of Ocean II B, C and D stars.

Ocean-2C is the second satellite of China's marine dynamic environment monitoring network and China's first large-scale remote sensing satellite operating in an inclined orbit. After being in orbit, it will be networked with Ocean-2B, which will greatly enhance China's ocean observation Range, observation efficiency and observation accuracy.

At 13:40 on September 21, Beijing time, China used the Long March 4 Yiyao 41 carrier rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center to successfully launch the Ocean 2 C satellite into the air. The satellite successfully entered the scheduled orbit and the mission was a complete success. .

Steady control of yaw: improving China's ocean observation capabilities

The Ocean-2C star was developed by the China Academy of Space Technology affiliated to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. It has the characteristics of "agile skills, quick eyes and quick hands" and can achieve a higher frequency of ocean wind field observations.

Compared with the sun-synchronous orbit in which traditional remote sensing satellites operate, the Ocean-2C satellite will "run at all its strength" in an inclined orbit, further enhancing China's ocean observation capabilities.

According to the designer, the observation period will be reduced from 3 days for a single star to 1 day after the satellite C of the Ocean II enters orbit and the satellite B achieves a dual-satellite network; Hour-level observation capabilities covering major sea areas around the world, and at the same time, it can realize sub-medium-scale ocean phenomenon observation, providing important support for China's marine disaster prevention and mitigation, meteorology, transportation and scientific applications.

Ocean-2C is the second operational satellite in the series of China’s national civil space infrastructure marine power satellites.

Catching wind and surveying the sea, Jian Zhou Huizhi

Ocean II C star has many functions. The designers kindly summarized its functions as "wind catching, sea reconnaissance, boat detection, and recording": from measuring the global ocean surface wind vector and global sea height, to global ship automation Identify and receive, store and forward global marine buoy survey information.

The payloads including the microwave scatterometer, ship identification system and data collection system are all delicately arranged on the satellite, and many indicators have reached the international advanced level.

The ship identification system can realize global sea surface ship position, heading and speed and other data calculations, which greatly improves maritime traffic and maritime safety capabilities; the data collection system can effectively obtain marine buoy signal data.

In addition, Ocean-2C has realized the process optimization of the launch site of large remote sensing satellites by means of whole-satellite belt solar wing transportation, which greatly shortens the work cycle of the launch site, and has a good promotion and optimization for the subsequent process optimization of large remote sensing satellites and commercial satellites. Demonstration effect.

After the satellite is in orbit, it mainly realizes high-precision and high-resolution real-time observation of sea surface height, effective wave height, and sea surface wind field, and has the ability to identify ships, and to receive, store and forward buoy measurement data in offshore China and other waters.

Samsung network will build the first ocean power monitoring network

As a major ocean country, China's oceanic output accounts for an increasing proportion of its GDP. The early warning of marine dynamic environment to realize the forecast of sea conditions for wind and wave measurement will generate many sustainable and predictable benefits.

After the Ocean-2C satellite enters orbit, it will not be affected by weather and light conditions, and will realize continuous monitoring of marine dynamic environment all day and all days, and provide effective services for countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”.

At the same time, its remote sensing data can also be applied to research on ocean geophysics, ocean dynamics, ocean climate and environmental monitoring, sea ice monitoring, etc.

In the follow-up, after the successful network of Ocean II B, C and D stars, the first ocean power monitoring network in China will be built. The system will further achieve high temporal resolution, high spatial resolution, high precision and global coverage. The observation of marine dynamic environment elements will not only provide important support for China's marine industry, but also provide effective support for the innovation and development of related industries at home and abroad.
