[The Centennial of the Communist Party of China] "One Hundred Years of Light and Shadow" Red Movie Screening Season Launched in Beijing

  No. 24, Xisi South Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, is the Red House Cinema with a history of nearly 70 years. After transformation, it was transformed into the first public library in Beijing-the Red House Public Library.

On July 9th, the premiere of the "Hundred Years of Light and Shadow" Red Film Festival was held here.

From now until the end of September, a series of classic red films such as "Opening the World", "The Founding of the Party", "The Revolution of 1911", "My 1919", "The Founding of a Country" and "Revolutionaries" will be staged here one after another.

  According to reports, the Xicheng District began to renovate the Red House Cinema in 2012, turning it into a compound reading space that is provided by the government and commissioned by social organizations. It integrates private library, public library, and physical bookstore. Effectively invigorate idle cultural assets, extend the remaining cultural memory, and realize the connotation of reading to keep pace with the times, and now it has become a new cultural landmark with reading as its core competitiveness.

  This event took full advantage of the feature of the Honglou Public Library, which was formerly known as the Honglou Cinema, to allow the public to relive the red classic movies in the way of "reading + movies".

  The reporter learned that in addition to the "Hundred Years of Light and Shadow" red film screening season activities, Xicheng District, Beijing will also host reading activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, including the "Summer Book Festival" and "Red July · Sharing Book Rhyme" Special activities in the reading space, etc., promote reading for all in a more novel, popular, and broader way.
