A 50-year-old daycare teacher charged with abusing a 3-year-old student by knocking him to the floor and dragging him on the floor has been sentenced to a fine.

The 9th Criminal Division of the Incheon District Court announced today (12th) that a 57-year-old nursery teacher A, who was charged with aggravated punishment for child abuse by workers in child welfare facilities, was fined 2 million won under the Act on Special Cases concerning Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes .

Judge Kim also ordered A to complete a 40-hour child abuse treatment program.

Person A was charged with abusing a student B (then 3 years old) twice at a daycare center in Seo-gu, Incheon on October 8-22, 2019.

He said that he did not sleep, pulled B's arm and knocked him down, dragged him about 2m to the place where the duvet was spread, and left him unattended even when he burst into tears.

Also, 10 days later, when group B loudly knocked on the desk, he got angry and grabbed his hand and slammed it hard on the desk.

At the trial, Mr. A claimed that he "did not physically abuse" and that "there was no intention of abuse."

However, Judge Kim said, "The accused claims that he was disciplined normally, but watching the CCTV video, he dragged the victim to the floor as if he was handling the victim." "It was quite radical and there was a sufficient risk of dislocating the victim's shoulder. "He said he was sentencing.
