China News Service, Hefei, September 8 (Reporter Wu Lan) The reporter learned from the Hefei Institute of Material Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the 8th that the four high-spectral resolution payloads developed by the academy will enter the predetermined orbit with the satellites, which will provide my country's atmospheric environment monitoring. Domestic hyperspectral data guarantee.

At 11:01 on September 7, China successfully launched a hyperspectral observation satellite (also known as Gaofen-5 02) at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center using the Long March 4 Bingyao 40 carrier rocket.

It marks that my country's hyperspectral observation capabilities in the field of atmospheric environment have been further improved, which will meet my country's urgent needs in comprehensive environmental monitoring and other aspects, and provide domestic hyperspectral data guarantee for the operational operation of global atmospheric environment remote sensing monitoring.

According to reports, the satellite is equipped with a total of seven remote sensing instruments, four of which were developed by the Hefei Research Institute. They are the main greenhouse gas monitor (GMI), the atmospheric trace gas differential absorption spectrometer (EMI), and the atmosphere Sol multi-angle polarization detector (DPC), high-precision polarization scanner (POSP).

After GMI and EMI instruments are put into orbit, global greenhouse gas and polluting gas monitoring will be carried out.

GMI can achieve 1~4ppm carbon dioxide detection and 20ppb methane detection, providing technical support for my country's "carbon peak and carbon neutral" strategy.

EMI has a 0.5-nanometer ultraviolet hyperspectral detection method, which can achieve single-day coverage of the world, and realize the monitoring of pollutant gases such as nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone, and formaldehyde, serving my country's "air pollution prevention" and "ozone and PM2.5 coordinated detection" "And other national strategies.

DPC can realize the detection of optical and microphysical parameters of global atmospheric aerosols and clouds, and provide effective data for global climate change research and high-precision atmospheric radiation correction of earth observation.

POSP can cooperate with DPC for PM2.5 and smog monitoring, helping to win the "Blue Sky Defense War".

The development of the four payloads for this launch was launched in the second half of 2018. The prototype design review was passed in early 2019, and the acceptance review was passed in 2020.

In order to complete the launch mission, the institute held a mobilization meeting for the four atmospheric monitoring load test teams of hyperspectral observation satellites on July 7, 2021.

In the past two months, all members of the atmospheric monitoring load development team have overcome various difficulties and performed various tasks with a careful and meticulous attitude, which successfully ensured the successful completion of this task.

In the future, the four payloads will operate synchronously on hyperspectral observation satellites, which is of great significance for the dynamic monitoring of my country's air pollution status and the implementation of air pollution prevention and control tasks. In addition, at present, the Hefei Institute of Material Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences also undertakes the development of multiple satellite payloads such as atmospheric environment monitoring satellites, which will make important contributions to the comprehensive management of my country’s atmospheric environment and the achievement of carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. Technical support and guarantee.
