Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the proposal to introduce non-working days from October 30 to November 7 in order to slow down the spread of coronavirus infection.

Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.

“It is especially important to bring down the peak of the new wave of the epidemic.

In this regard, taking into account the current situation, of course, I support the proposal to declare non-working days throughout the country with the preservation of wages for workers from October 30 to November 7 inclusive, "Putin said during a meeting with the Cabinet.

At the same time, the president clarified that in each region of Russia the situation develops in different ways, based on this, the heads of regions can establish additional non-working days without waiting for October 30, or, if necessary, extend them after November 7.

“I am separately addressing the heads of the constituent entities of the Federation, where the incidence rate is especially high, and medical organizations are working with overload.

Conduct consultations with specialists, assess the situation, please, if required, make decisions on the introduction of non-working days from this Saturday, from October 23rd.

I repeat once again that you have the appropriate powers, ”he stressed.

The head of state called on the Cabinet of Ministers to "use more widely" the mechanism to provide citizens with two days off with the preservation of wages after being vaccinated against COVID-19, as well as to expand the volume of testing for COVID-19 in order to timely identify those infected.

"It is necessary to improve and increase testing, this will allow to ensure self-isolation of both the infected and the people who were in contact with them, thereby" breaking "the chain of the spread of the virus," he said.

Putin also drew attention to "what dangerous consequences the low level of vaccination leads to."

Addressing citizens, he stressed that vaccination reduces the risks of illness, severe complications after illness, and the threat of death.

“I would like to draw the attention of the heads of the constituent entities of the Federation to the need to increase the rate of vaccination.

And, of course, I once again urge all our citizens to actively vaccinate themselves.

We are talking about your protection, about your safety, about life, in the end, about the health of your relatives, ”the president emphasized.
