On the evening of the 26th, after overnight construction and commissioning, the Nanjing "Huoyan" laboratory was completed. At present, the laboratory has been officially put into use.
"The daily detection throughput can reach 200,000 single tubes. If 10 mixed 1 mixed collection technology is used, a maximum of 2 million nucleic acid samples can be detected per day." Chen Wurong, director of production support at BGI Gene Delivery Center, told a reporter from Science and Technology Daily.
The reporter saw on the scene that the "Huoyan" laboratory was surrounded by an air arch structure, with the outermost layer wrapped by a thick plastic layer.
"The air film version of the "Huoyan" laboratory uses flame-retardant, wear-resistant, and highly stable PVC materials as the main building materials. The air arch structure is formed by a double-layer air film to provide a negative pressure environment, which meets the requirements of the BSL-2 laboratory. Requirements: At the same time, it has a high volume compression ratio, can be folded and disassembled, and can be transported by air cargo after packaging, which can realize flexible site selection, rapid transportation, rapid layout, rapid construction, and rapid start-up." Chen Wurong said.
In order to improve the efficiency of large-scale nucleic acid detection, the "Huoyan" laboratory is also equipped with a variety of automated anti-epidemic black technologies independently developed by MGI, which greatly improves the detection efficiency compared to manual operations.
"Among them, the MGISP-NE384 automatic nucleic acid extraction and purification instrument can effectively assist in the extraction of viral nucleic acids, with a single-machine daily detection throughput of up to 10,000 cases, which greatly accelerates the laboratory's detection process." Chen Wurong said.
In addition, the MGISTP-7000 automatic sub-cup processing system in the air film cabin can complete the automatic sub-packing and information processing of 192 samples within 40 minutes.
