On the 21st, the government announced a draft of the "Basic Energy Plan" with the goal of significantly increasing the proportion of renewable energy toward decarbonization.

In order to expand the introduction, the challenges are to strengthen the power transmission network that sends electricity across regions and to popularize storage batteries that store electricity.

Regarding the national energy policy policy, "Basic Energy Plan", the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry presented a draft at a meeting of experts on the 21st to raise the ratio of renewable energy in 2030 to "36% to 38%".

According to the latest 2019 data, the ratio of renewable energy is 18.1%, which is a target to more than double.

Most of the renewable energy sources such as sunlight are located far from the metropolitan areas where electricity is consumed.

In addition, it has been pointed out that the amount of power generated fluctuates greatly depending on the weather, and that a power grid that crosses regions is important for efficient use of power, but it is not sufficient.

For this reason, strengthening the power grid is an issue in achieving the goal.

However, it takes time and it is estimated that it will cost 4.8 trillion yen to double the capacity.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will also focus on the technological development and dissemination of storage batteries that store a large amount of electricity generated by renewable energy.
