Oberstdorf (dpa) - At the end of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf, the supreme discipline of cross-country skiers is on the program.

Today the last world champion of the title fights in the Allgäu is sought over 50 kilometers in the classic technique.

Two years ago in Seefeld, Norway's Hans Christer Holund prevailed in the grand finale over the very long distance and won gold.

This time the Russian Alexander Bolschunow, who has already won a complete set of medals in Oberstdorf, is the top favorite.

The German athletes of team boss Peter Schlickenrieder start from the role of outsiders.
