The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai revealed the advantages of the Masar 2020 metro stations, during a field tour that extended from Jebel Ali station to the Expo station, organized by the authority for representatives of Arab and foreign media, during which it presented the specifications of the internal and external designs of the stations, announcing that the Masar 2020 metro stations are the first In the world, which gets the gold category in the Leadership and Leadership System Certificate in Green Energy and Environmental Designs, which confirms that all standards required in the construction of Path 2020 stations meet international standards of high quality and environmentally friendly.

The Executive Director of the Rail Agency at the authority, Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, who accompanied the media on the tour, said that Dubai has received the (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, as the new stations of the Dubai Metro, composing the 2020 route, have been ranked as a world leader in the field of energy and environmental design. For metro projects of the gold category, according to its evaluation according to the conditions and specialized international technical standards.

He stressed that the authority took into consideration the integration of sustainability concepts in all aspects of designing the stations of Route 2020, and implementation work, through the application of the best relevant international and national initiatives.

On the sidelines of the tour, Younes explained to "Emirates Today", some of the specifications on the basis of which the project received international certification, such as the use of biodiesel in the tunnel drilling machine and power generators, which led to a reduction in carbon emissions and reduced carbon emissions in most metro stations, including Approximately 2485 tons / year.

He said that adhesives and paints were used with low concentrations of volatile organic compounds, to maintain a healthy environment inside the building, which reflected positively on the safety of users, and pointed out the ability of the stations to provide energy for heating and cooling at a rate of more than 22%, according to the American code.

He added that the specifications also included the installation of meters to monitor consumption of all major systems to help rationalize energy use, and high-reflective materials were also installed on the surfaces to reduce the impact of global warming, and thus reduce the rise in temperatures in the surrounding areas, adding that 95 were recycled. % Of construction waste.

The field tour included entering the rooms of the HIZOP system, and Yunus explained the system applied by the authority, to preserve and recycle energy sources, to take advantage of the energy resulting from friction in the train brakes to feed the electrical loads in the Dubai Metro facilities, such as: lighting, elevators, and the system. Ventilation.

During the tour, he presented drawings and explanations of the external designs of Route 2020 stations, which bear a distinct architectural style developed from the station designs, which were implemented along the red and green metro line.

The metro station designs include four different styles, on top of which is the iconic station design inside the Expo site, which was designed in the form of plane wings to reflect Dubai's future city launch towards innovation.

As for the design of the exchange station to link between Route 2020 and the Red Line of the Dubai Metro at Jebel Ali Station and the overhead stations on Route 2020, it is similar to the design of the current metro stations, in order to preserve the identity and shape of the stations on Sheikh Zayed Road.

A design pattern has been adopted that simulates simplicity, modernity and sustainability requirements in the underground stations, the Dubai Investment Park station, and the Jumeirah Golf Estates station, which have not yet been opened for service, due to the absence of residential or investment projects in the region, but it was taken into account when designing them to provide greater capacity. Of the stations currently located on the red line, to meet the needs of the mega projects expected to be implemented in that region.

Yunus pointed to the difference in colors in the internal environment of the stations, and said that they were chosen from the most prominent colors in the geographical environment and cultural identity of the Emirates, indicating that the blue color was chosen for each of the Jebel Ali and Al Furjan stations to express the water environment, while the green color was chosen that symbolizes air and nature. In both The Gardens Station and Dubai Investments Park.

He added that the fire-inspired colors were chosen for the Jumeirah Golf Estates station, which is the largest metro station in the Dubai Metro network in all lines, with an area of 28,700 square meters.

Many improvements were made to the interior design of the new trains, to provide greater comfort for passengers, and to increase the carrying capacity of vehicles, with re-distribution of seats in a transversal way in the gold class, and longitudinal in the silver class and the women and children carriage.

The new distribution resulted in an increase in the capacity of the trains by 8%, increasing the capacity of the train from 643 to 696 passengers.

Easy walking trails at the Expo Station

The Expo station was characterized by the presence of roundabouts, steep and wide, similar to those found at airports, to allow the movement of the largest possible number of passengers easily, as well as reduce the fatigue of walking over the long distances that link the terminal facilities.

Expo stations were also equipped with smart entry and exit gates, which allow the passage of passengers, based on smart technology that reads the size of the person who needs to pass, which allows the gate to remain open until the person can pass through, even if he is carrying some bags or things, such as baby carriages.

Tangible changes

The Director of the Rail Operations Department at the Authority's Railways Organization, Hassan Al-Mutawa, referred to tangible changes in the design of mechanisms to guide passengers to their destinations, saying that the numbering method for the station piers was adopted, instead of the names, as a result of the expansion that led to the presence of more than one berth at the site and the station themselves. , Indicating that the destination will be announced by announcing the berth number, to make it easier for passengers.

15 kilometers

The length of the 2020 metro route is about 15 kilometers, of which 11.8 kilometers above ground level and 3.2 kilometers below ground level, and includes seven stations, including an interchange station with the red line, an iconic station at the Expo 2020 site, three overhead stations, and two underground stations. .

Route 2020 provides safe and easy transportation to Expo visitors, and to several areas in Dubai alike.

The external designs of the Route 2020 stations bear a distinct architectural style.
