January 01, 2021The Indian Medicines Agency has approved the coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford for emergency use.

This was reported by the website of the Reuters agency which cites two sources aware of the matter. 



The decision authorizes the use of the vaccine in the second most populous country in the world which, after the United States, has the highest number of Covid-19 infections.



According to one of the sources, India would like to start administering the vaccine soon, most likely by Wednesday.

The AstraZeneca vaccine has already been authorized in the UK and Argentina.



Also in Brazil, the biomedical reference center Fiocruz will request authorization for the emergency use of the vaccine against Covid-19 developed by AstraZeneca Plc and the University of Oxford by next Wednesday, said the president, Nísia Trindade.
