Berlin (dpa / bb) - The third Berlin vaccination center opens today on the exhibition grounds under the radio tower.

It is located on the Berlin exhibition grounds in the Charlottenburg district.

The vaccine from Biontech-Pfizer, which has already been used in the largest vaccination center in the capital in the arena hall in Treptow, said the vaccine center spokeswoman Regina Kneiding, explained.

The number of vaccinations should be increased by 200 daily.

After five days, 1000 people could be vaccinated there every day.

The vaccination center in exhibition hall 21 under the Berlin radio tower is set to become the second largest of a total of six in Berlin, according to the Malteser Service.

At full capacity in two shifts from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., up to 3800 vaccinations a day are possible on the exhibition grounds.

Initially, the capacities of the vaccination center are therefore not exhausted due to the lack of vaccine doses.

Berlin's second vaccination center only started on Thursday, which is housed in the Erika-Heß-Eisstadion in Wedding.

This is where the vaccine from the US manufacturer Moderna is used.

Almost three weeks ago the vaccination center in the arena hall in Treptow went into operation, where other concerts take place.

Further vaccination centers are located in Terminal C at the former Tegel Airport, in Hangar 4 at the former Tempelhof Airport and in the Velodrom in Pankow.

Depending on the amount of vaccine available, they should also be put into operation.
