Alexis Pinturault had almost a second lead after the first run, and did not save significantly on gunpowder in the second.

The Frenchman kept the lead and finally won with 1.04 after riding fastest in year 2. The victory is his 32nd in the World Cup and he continues to lead the overall World Cup.

He extended his lead in the total ahead of Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who finished fourth, to 60 points.

Croatian Filip Zubcic finished second while Marco Odermatt, Switzerland, took third place.

Norwegian Braathen crashed badly

The big snack after the competition was otherwise the crash of the young Norwegian Lucas Braathen.

The 20-year-old, who took his first World Cup victory in October, made it to the finish line but crashed right at the finish line after hitting the last gate and losing his balance.

He then slid further on his head and appeared to turn to his left knee.

Braathen grabbed his left leg afterwards and appeared to be in pain, before being taken away on a stretcher a moment later.

Shortly after the crash, compatriot Aamodt Kilde finished as the then number one.

He then quickly arrived at Braathen who was then taken care of in the finish line.

The injury situation for Braathen is unclear at present.
