  • Transformed into a "vaccinodrome", the Stade de France could be used to vaccinate 10,000 people per week.

  • The opening of this giant vaccination center aims to "lower the pressure on the hospital system and reduce severe forms, but also to break the chains of contamination in the working population, particularly on the front line in Seine-Saint- Denis.

While in Marseille, part of the Vélodrome has recently been transformed into a giant vaccination center, Seine-Saint-Denis - particularly affected by the spread of the coronavirus - is preparing to do the same at the Stade de France.

This "vaccinodrome" should open its doors "at the beginning of April", announced this Monday Aurélien Rousseau, director of ARS Ile-de-France on France Inter.

Objective: Accelerate the rate of injections, as requested by many local elected officials.

"While new restrictive measures have been taken to deal with the epidemic, we are convinced that only a massive and rapid vaccination campaign will allow a lasting exit from this crisis which particularly affects the inhabitants of Seine-Saint. -Denis ”, say Stéphane Troussel, president of the department of Seine-Saint-Denis and Mathieu Hanotin, mayor of Saint-Denis.

And to specify: “In this context, our communities are working with the regional health agency of Ile-de-France, the prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis and the Paris fire brigade at the opening all. at the beginning of April from a large vaccination center at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

"

"Open vaccination to new audiences"

With this "vaccinodrome", the department wishes "to open vaccination to new audiences", we note in the community.

The goal ?

"Lowering the pressure on the hospital system and reducing serious forms, but also to break the chains of contamination in the working population, particularly on the front line in Seine-Saint-Denis".

At present, more than 50% of people over 75 have been vaccinated in Seine-Saint-Denis.

This new system could make it possible to vaccinate 10,000 people per week.

Note that it will not be reserved only for the Seine-Saint-Denis department but for the entire Ile-de-France region.

According to information from Le Parisien, the Stade de France will be able to welcome the public from Monday to Saturday at first, but it is not excluded that it may then open on certain Sundays.

It could be operational for at least four months.

On the other hand, the public will not be vaccinated on the lawn but behind the scenes of the stadium.

Our anti-Covid vaccine file

In Seine-Saint-Denis, confined since Saturday, the incidence rate of the virus has climbed to 546 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants over seven days.

This is well above the maximum alert threshold set at 250 by the health authorities, according to the latest figures from the ARS Ile-de-France.

For its part, the Vélodrome open six days a week for vaccinations has become the main vaccination center in Marseille, in front of the Town Hall.
