Potsdam (dpa / bb) - In Brandenburg, the so-called seven-day value for new infections with the corona virus has fallen below 200.

The value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week was 193.7 on Saturday, as the Ministry of Health announced.

On Friday the value was 201.0 and a week ago around 235 new infections.

According to the ministry, 724 people were demonstrably infected with the corona virus within one day.

According to the ministry, there were 673 people on Friday.

Most of the new infections were registered in the Elbe-Elster district with 76 new cases.

This means that there have been a total of 65 206 confirmed corona cases in Brandenburg since spring 2020.

At the weekend, numbers can sometimes be reported with a delay.

The two districts of Spree-Neisse and Ostprignitz-Ruppin are still hotspots, but the seven-day incidence also fell here.

In Spree-Neisse the value was 321.0 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, on Friday it was 364.9.

In Ostprignitz-Ruppin there were 337.8 new cases, and 389.4 new infections were reported there on Friday.

Cottbus is also above the threshold of 300 with 311.0 newly registered cases.

In Brandenburg, daycare centers have to close if the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants rises above 300 in a week.

Otherwise they are allowed to open.
