Aggestam debuted in 1973 with the collection of poems Your heart is a red train and in 1994 came his novel Niagara !.

He published a total of nine collections of poems, and in January the tenth, Mitt i det veka livet, will be published posthumously at Wahlström & Widstrand.

He grew up in Nockeby in Bromma, but moved to Näsåker in the 1980s with his wife, the author Annelie Fridell-Aggestam.

Rolf Aggestam was active in the literary world and, among other things, editor of the magazine Lyrikvännen and Wahlström & Wistrand's literary calendar Halifax.

Together with Per Helge and Sandro Key-Åberg, he started the Poetry and Song Week at Hallstaberget in Sollefteå.

Rolf Aggestam translated, among other things, the American poet Walt Whitman. He was awarded the Swedish Radio Poetry Prize and the De Nios Winter Prize. Rolf Aggestam turned 79 years old.
