“During meetings with human rights activists on December 3 and 16, Bashaev claimed that he was not receiving medical assistance.

He demanded to be taken to the hospital for maxillofacial surgery.

In October, after the intervention of the POC and the Human Rights Ombudsman in Moscow, Tatyana Potyaeva, Bashaev underwent surgery on a broken jaw in this hospital and installed supporting metal braces, "said special correspondent for RT, a member of the POC Boris Klin.

The POC supported the request of the prisoner to be re-sent to the hospital for examination, the human rights activist noted, and gave appropriate recommendations to the leadership of the Matrosskaya Tishina SIZO.

On December 3, Klin recalled, the convict announced the intention of the SIZO staff to send him to the colony in the next ten days and went on a hunger strike in protest.

On December 18, representatives of the administration of the isolation ward and the prison hospital informed the POC that on December 17, Bashaev was transferred to the colony to serve his sentence.

“The officials of the SIZO and the Matrosskaya Tishina hospital gave contradictory explanations to the POC members about the circumstances of the transfer, claiming that Bashaev allegedly unauthorizedly removed one of the brackets and agreed to the removal of the second.

But the document confirming the fact of consent was not presented to the POC members.

At the same time, they named different dates for their removal - from 14 to 16 December, ”Klin said.

According to him, the pre-trial detention center said that there were no legal grounds for Bashaev's stay in the hospital and, since the verdict had come into legal force, he had to be sent to the colony.

At present, the POC does not have data on Bashaev's health status.

Information about the current situation has been sent to the human rights ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, Klin concluded.

Earlier, RT reported that in September Bashaev tried to injure himself in protest against being sent to a colony before he underwent a medical operation.
