Leipzig (dpa / sn) - According to new findings, 15 people were injured in a fire in an apartment building in the east of Leipzig.
They were taken to hospitals on suspicion of smoke inhalation, the police said on Wednesday.
There are also five children among the injured.
The fire brigade took 28 people out of the apartment building on Tuesday, it said.
In some cases, they had to leave the house using turntable ladders.
Initially, it was assumed that 13 were injured.
A citizen had reported the fire in the five-story building at noon.
The fire broke out in the stairwell.
When the fire brigade arrived, it was already completely on fire.
According to a police spokesman, the fire department had put out the fire in the afternoon.
The criminal police have started the investigation into the cause and background.
The damage to property was initially unknown.
