The Nasdaq and S&P 500 index hit new highs and U.S. bank stocks fell across the board

　　Sino-Singapore Jingwei Client, January 22, Eastern Time on Thursday, the three major U.S. stock indexes closed mixed, and the three major stock indexes continued to hit historical highs during the session.

Near the close, the Dow and S&P 500 fell rapidly, and the Dow turned down; the Nasdaq and S&P 500 closed at a new high.

Most of the major US technology stocks closed gains, while bank stocks, aviation stocks, and energy stocks fell across the board; popular Chinese concept stocks were mixed, with Qutoutiao rising over 61%.

　　As of the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Index fell 12.37 points, or 0.04, to 31,176.01 points; the Nasdaq index rose 73.67 points, or 0.55%, to 13530.92 points; the S&P 500 index rose 1.22 points, or 0.03%, to 3,853.07 points.

　　Most of the major technology stocks in US stocks closed up. Apple rose 3.67%, Amazon rose 1.34%, Netflix fell 1.11%, Google rose 0.22%, Facebook rose 2.02%, and Microsoft rose 0.28%.

　　U.S. banking stocks fell across the board. JPMorgan Chase fell 0.82%, Goldman Sachs fell 0.34%, Citigroup fell 2.17%, Morgan Stanley fell 0.19%, Bank of America fell 1.76%, and Wells Fargo fell 1.45%.

　　Most US energy stocks fell. Exxon Mobil fell 2.85%, Chevron fell 3.56%, ConocoPhillips fell 4.74%, Schlumberger fell 4.65%, and Occidental Petroleum fell 6.43%.

　　American Airlines stocks fell more or less, Boeing fell 1.92%, American Airlines fell 2.1%, Delta Airlines fell 2.26%, Southwest Airlines fell 0.88%, and United Airlines fell 5.73%.

　　Popular Chinese concept stocks were mixed. Qutoutiao rose 61.3%, TouchPal rose 28.2%, WiMi Hologram rose 24.9%, Tiger Securities rose 23.7%, Cheetah Mobile rose 22%, Legend Bio fell 8.2%, 36Kr fell 8 %, Alibaba fell 2.12%, Baidu fell 3.45%, JD fell 0.22%.

New energy auto stocks were up and down, with Weilai Auto up 1.07%, Xiaopeng Auto up 3.56%, and Ideal Auto down 0.65%.

　　In terms of individual stocks, Qu Toutiao opened higher on the day and rose 80% during the session, but gave up the gains late in the session.

On the news, there is market news that Qutoutiao's internal letter shows that the company will achieve operating profit for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2020, which is the first quarter since listing.

　　In terms of European stocks, the three major European stock indexes collectively closed down. The UK FTSE 100 index reported 6,715.42 points, down 24.97 points, or 0.37%; France’s CAC40 index reported 5,590.79 points, down 37.65 points, or 0.67%; the German DAX index reported 13,906.67 points , Down 14.70 points, or 0.11%.

　　In terms of international oil prices, WTI March crude oil futures prices fell by 0.18 US dollars, or 0.34%, to 53.13 US dollars per barrel.

　　In terms of international gold prices, COMEX February gold futures prices fell by 0.6 US dollars to close at 1865.9 US dollars per ounce, a decrease of 0.03%.

　　The U.S. dollar index fell. As of the end of New York trading, the U.S. dollar index, which measures the U.S. dollar against six major currencies, fell 0.40% to 90.1200.
