China News Service, Beijing, February 26 (Reporter Li Xiaoyu) In response to the European Commission’s blame for the WTO crisis on China’s failure to transition to a market economy, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of China said on the 26th that this statement is baseless and China’s response strongly oppose.

The European Commission recently issued a new document "Open, Sustainable, and Confident Trade Policy", stating that it will continue to attach importance to economic and trade relations with China, but at the same time, it also proposed that "China pursues a unique model of national capitalism and complies with the existing global economic governance system. Posed a challenge," and blamed the WTO crisis on China’s failure to transition to a market economy.

In response, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said that this is not true.

China is building a socialist market economy in an all-round way so that the market will play a decisive role in the allocation of resources and the government's role will be better played.

China has always been an active participant, firm supporter and important contributor to the WTO.

Unilateralism and protectionism are the root causes of the current WTO crisis.

The spokesperson said that in the new trade policy documents, the EU will adopt stricter restrictions in areas such as foreign investment review, export control, government procurement, and subsidies.

China hopes that the EU will increase policy transparency, maintain fairness, justice and non-discrimination, and avoid obstructing normal international trade and investment.

The spokesperson said that China and Europe are partners, not rivals, and cooperation is far greater than competition.

Although the social systems and economic models of the two sides are different, this does not prevent the two sides from developing mutually beneficial cooperation.

China is willing to continue to strengthen dialogue with the EU, deepen cooperation, and properly handle differences.
