Hanover (dpa / lni) - The scope of in-company training in Lower Saxony should remain stable this year despite the pandemic-related economic crisis.
However, many companies see a need for improvement in the concepts for digital teaching in vocational schools.
These are the results of a survey presented by the chambers of commerce and industry (IHKN) in the country on Wednesday.
The companies want to train an average of 0.4 percent more.
Regardless of the uncertainty, the willingness to bring new apprentices on board is great, said chamber chief Maike Bielfeldt.
At the beginning of the current 2020/2021 training year, the situation was still difficult.
The number of new contracts at the beginning of September was a good 14 percent below the previous year's level.
The pure corona effect - less willingness to hire due to business problems or risks - only made up part of this, according to the IHKN.
Another important factor was that fewer young people were interested in an apprenticeship and that a thirteenth year of high school started again.
The chambers expected that contracts would still follow.
Many training companies take a critical look at the current teaching practice and coordinate with the vocational schools.
On a scale of 1 to 5, the survey participants gave learning platforms and offers on average only a 3. Bielfeldt spoke of an overall "decent" result.
But: "The further improvement of the technical equipment, the range of digital teaching materials and the qualification of teachers must remain at the top of the agenda."
Communication is also classified as poor by every fifth company.
However, many schools also have to constantly adapt processes themselves due to the often changed policy guidelines.
