The Guardian writes about this with reference to researchers from the University of Edinburgh.

According to the publication, this variant was found by sequencing the genome of virus samples in 10 countries, including the UK.

It is noted that at least 32 cases of this variant of the virus were detected in the UK, 35 in Denmark, and 12 in Nigeria. 

In the USA and France - seven and five cases, respectively, less than five cases were recorded in Ghana, Australia, Canada, Jordan and Spain.

The experts note that the new variant of the virus has a "potentially alarming set of mutations."
