To cope with the shortage, the government wants to build "250,000 social housing units in two years," announced the Minister for Housing, Emmanuelle Wargon, on Tuesday on BFMTV.
"With the HLM organizations, the social partners, I propose that we build 250,000 social housing in two years", she declared, specifying that 90,000 social housing units had been built this year, "less than our objectives".

"I challenge everyone on the construction of social housing", she continued, wishing "that the 2021-2022 recovery plan is the opportunity to catch up."

She also launched an appeal "to HLM organizations so that they can start building again" and to local elected officials to issue building permits.
To facilitate access to housing, the Minister also indicated that the Visale guarantee system, which makes it possible to benefit from a guarantee guaranteed by the State, would be extended to "employees who earn less than 1,500 euros net".
