According to data from insurers analyzed and published on Friday by the magazine Auto Plus, the DS7, Renault Mégane RS and Renault Clio were the most stolen cars in France in 2020. A year also marked by a 13% drop in thefts of cars, in a context of pandemic and containment.

The DS7, Renault Mégane RS and Renault Clio were the most stolen cars in France in 2020, according to data from insurers analyzed and published on Friday by the magazine Auto Plus.

Car thefts fell 13% last year, marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and two lockdowns.

DS7 Crossback, Mégane RS, Clio and Mégane 4

The DS7 Crossback is at the top of the Auto Plus ranking with 194 flights for 10,000 insured.

The large SUV of the premium brand of the Stellantis group was popular, along with other similar models, from a network that was dismantled at the beginning of the year.

He stole these vehicles using encoded electronic keys.

The Mégane RS, the sporty version of the compact Renault, was also particularly targeted, with 179 flights for 10,000 insured.

The Renault Clio 4 and Mégane 4 then arrive in a pocket square.

The Smart Fortwo, former champion of the classification, is ranked 5th.

The annual Auto Plus ranking is carried out by establishing the theft frequency (number of thefts reported to a sample of 10,000 insured vehicles) of 165 models sold more than 3,000 copies during the year 2020. 

The magazine was based on figures from 14 insurance companies, mutuals and banks, covering a fleet of nearly 20 million cars.
