No final on the Promenade des Anglais, but an arrival in Levens, a village of 5,000 inhabitants.

The route of the last two stages of the Paris-Nice cycling race, with a modified route due to partial confinement, will remain on Saturday and Sunday in the Nice hinterland, the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi announced on Friday.

"The organization has proposed a plan B, outside the confined zone", he declared on France Bleu Azur.

The seventh stage will start from Broc and end as planned in Valdeblore La Colmiane.

Sunday's, shortened, will start from the Plan du Var, about thirty kilometers north of Nice, and will take the form of a quasi-loop.

The technical details remain to be specified by the organizing company ASO.

The prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes warned Thursday that "in any case, these stages can only take place outside the confined area and behind closed doors".

Already shortened last year

The confinement arrangements for the two previous weekends were renewed due to a health situation qualified as "still very worrying" and the "extremely strong" pressure on the hospitals of the department.

This reconfinement applies from Friday 6 p.m. to Monday 6 a.m. and concerns 63 coastal municipalities, from Théoule-sur-Mer, in the west of the department, to Menton, on the Italian border, including the cities of Nice, Antibes and Cannes.

Last year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic then in its infancy, Paris-Nice had been shortened from its last stage and had ended in the station of La Colmiane.
