The American electric car manufacturer Tesla is gaining influence in Germany with the construction of its factory in Brandenburg.
Representatives of the US group were allowed to present their position at a top-level meeting with Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier (CDU) on so-called tip smoothing in February.

At the video conference, representatives from the automotive and energy industries discussed a draft for the Energy Industry Act.
According to the list of participants, only three car manufacturers took part in the conversation: BMW, VW and Tesla.
Daimler, however, was not involved.
A Daimler spokesman said it was represented by the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).

The Federal Ministry of Economics did not want to name the participating companies for “data protection reasons”, nor did a spokeswoman provide any information on the criteria according to which the participants were selected and invited.
Tesla left questions about the company's lobbying unanswered.
