Tanzania: WHO urges authorities to take action against Covid

On the Covid front, the situation in Tanzania is causing concern.
The country has been affected in recent weeks by a wave of deaths.
For the authorities, these deaths are due to pneumonia.
President Magufuli, who for a year has been minimizing the dangerousness of the virus, has somewhat changed his speech in recent days.
But the WHO is now urging him to act.
Its leader, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Sunday urged the country to take robust measures to protect its people.

This is the second call to order in a month.
In January, already, the boss of the WHO had invited the Tanzanian authorities to not only take measures to fight against Covid19 but also to prepare for the vaccination and to share his data on the pandemic.
A request that was not heeded

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has therefore given a layer on Sunday.

I renew my call to Tanzania to start reporting Covid-19 cases and sharing the numbers,
" he said before urging the authorities to implement measures that break the chains of transmission and to prepare for vaccination.
An appeal that echoes that launched inside the country by personalities and pressure groups.
The order of lawyers on Saturday asked the government to recognize the presence of the virus and to take measures accordingly.
President Magufuli has not ceased in recent months to minimize the dangerousness of the virus.

On Thursday, the Tanzanian president dismissed any idea of containment.
But yesterday, he half-heartedly called on the population to wear the mask.

, he warned before launching:

".
