Frankfurt / Wiesbaden (dap / lhe) - A poster competition aims to make schoolchildren aware of the dangers of alcohol abuse and so-called binge drinking.

Under the motto “colorful instead of blue”, children and young people between the ages of twelve and 17 can take part again this year, as the health insurance company DAK-Gesundheit announced on Monday.

"Our commitment should not let up when it comes to making children and young people aware of the risks of excessive alcohol consumption," said the Hessian Minister of Social Affairs Kai Klose (Greens) as patron according to the announcement.

The DAK campaign has already given many young people thinking about the topic.

The DAK referred to figures according to which in 2018 almost 20,500 children and adolescents were hospitalized with alcohol poisoning, 1,275 of them in Hesse.

The posters for the competition can be submitted until April 30th.

Then the best in all federal states are awarded.

In September, a jury then selects the national winners.
