Karlshuld (dpa / lby) - On a farm in Karlshuld in the Upper Bavarian district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, a man was spilled from several tons of grain and seriously injured.

The 64-year-old wanted to prepare grain from a store for transport to the mill together with the farm owner on Thursday, the police said.

During the work, a side wall of the granary broke, several tons of grain were spilled out in an uncontrolled manner and buried the 64-year-old under himself.

First rescue attempts by the farm owner and a helper were unsuccessful.

Fire service helpers needed half an hour to shovel the man free.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
