Kiel / Itzehoe (dpa / lno) - After a corona outbreak in a prison in Itzehoe, no further infections with the virus have occurred there.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said on Wednesday that no suspected corona cases have been reported from the other penal institutions in the country.

One therefore hopes to have the infection process in the prisons under control.

On Tuesday, the ministry announced that 16 prisoners and seven employees of the Neumünster prison had tested positive for the corona virus. According to the Ministry, the virus had also been detected in a prisoner who had previously been transferred from Itzehoe to the Kiel JVA. All prisoners were then placed in solitary cells and the employees concerned were sent to quarantine at home.
