China Overseas Chinese Network, February 18. According to Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao, a fake new telecommunications website recently appeared in Singapore to scam money. The police urged the public to be careful.

  The Singapore Police Force issued a statement on February 17 stating that the victims had received e-mails from fake Singtel, stating that they had won cash prizes or were eligible for cash rebates or gifts.

The victim needs to click on the link in the email to go to the fake Singtel website to provide bank information and one-time password.

  The police also pointed out that non-bank-related phishing scams increased by 1214% from 49 in 2019 to 644 in 2020.

The amount defrauded has also increased from at least S$72,000 the previous year to at least S$981,000 last year.
