Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria wants to eliminate the growing lack of educators with a shortened and newly designed vocational training.

As early as the school year 2021/22, the training for applicants with an intermediate school leaving certificate will only last four instead of five years, said the Ministry of Education and Social Affairs in Munich on Thursday.

For this purpose, the practical phases are completed at the same time as the theoretical part of the training.

There are also plans to change a few things in terms of remuneration: Those who complete the regular training course can apply for a subsidy of 900 euros per month for the two pre-school years that do not have to be paid back.

For the practice-integrated variant, a tariff-based remuneration of an average of around 1200 euros per month is provided.

In concrete terms, this means that trainees with a middle school leaving certificate after four years and trainees with a university entrance qualification or career changers with a middle school leaving certificate and completed vocational training become state-recognized educators after just three years.

“With the new concept, we are not only further developing the training of educators.

We are making the training a lot more attractive, ”said Social Affairs Minister Carolina Trautner (CSU).

With the modernization of educator training, even more young people could be offered attractive conditions to start the exciting profession of educator, emphasized Minister of Education Michael Piazolo (Free Voters).
