Members of the scientific committee of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award met to review the reports of the jury and study their recommendations, to approve the short lists for the 15th session, the largest in the history of the award in terms of the number of nominations, as the award received 2,349 nominations for the year 2020/2021, an increase of 23%, compared to The number of nominations during the last session.

The authority met in the presence of the Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, Muhammad Khalifa Al Mubarak, the department's deputy, Saud Al Hosani, the head of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, Secretary General of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, and members of the scientific body.

The Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, Saud Al Hosani, said: “The countdown has begun to announce the winners of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award this year, and we are proud of the large number of exceptional innovations that the 15th session attracted, thus registering the highest number in its history over 15 years.” He added: "This achievement and these participations reflect the distinguished position embodied by the award, and its success year after year in raising awareness of creators from around the world, in a way that contributes to the development of literature and Arab cultural and intellectual work."

For his part, Dr. Ali bin Tamim said: “The evaluation of nominations for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award passes through four stages, and with the approval of the short lists, the third phase of this process is completed, which is characterized by the highest standards of transparency, integrity and objectivity.” He added: “In the coming weeks we will disclose the works. Which succeeded in reaching short lists in the branches of literature, translation, development and nation building, Arab culture in other languages, literature of children and young people, arts and critical studies, young author, publishing and cultural techniques, and the lists will be submitted to the Board of Trustees of the Award for approval of the names of the winners.
