Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) launches a gas storage project

Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) has announced the launch of a new gas storage project, following the success of the limited pilot phase using the existing infrastructure that has been operating since the beginning of 2017.

Gas supplies to the project began on the first day of January 2021, and the project was completed on time, within its budget, within one year of awarding the engineering, procurement and construction contract in December 2019.

By completing this project, "SNOOC" will open new horizons, as it helps in achieving a balance between supply and demand for gas in Sharjah, and will contribute to securing supplies with high flexibility for the energy sector in Sharjah.

In turn, the Executive Director of the Sharjah National Oil Corporation, Engineer Hatem Muhammad Diab Al-Mousa, said, “The completion of this project is an achievement given the challenges we faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its negative impact on domestic and international supplies and work restrictions, and the project was completed without any accidents. Operational, environmental, or safety related, and this project represents a qualitative development in SNOOC activities, as it will enable us to store surplus gas in the winter to meet the peak demand in the summer, in addition to providing a strategic reserve to ensure energy security, which enables us to respond to any emergency in matters Operational or unexpected market disruptions. "

The project includes the installation of high-pressure gas pumping units and a high-pressure gas pipeline, in addition to facilities and support facilities, as well as meters and connections to the station and the modernization of existing wells, and adheres to safety standards and modern control technology.

The new infrastructure is designed to provide the potential for future expansion.

It is noteworthy that the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) was established in 2010 by an Emiri decree from the Ruler of Sharjah, and is charged with exploration, production, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance operations in the energy assets of the emirate.

In addition to the new Mahani field, the Sharjah National Oil Corporation owns and operates more than 50 wells in addition to a gas processing complex and two liquid petroleum storage and export terminals.

The gas complex in Sajaa is the center of the gas pipelines connecting the Northern Emirates.
