Sharjah asks to host the matches of his group in the AFC Champions League

Sharjah Football Company announced that it has officially submitted a request to host the matches of its second group in the first round in the AFC Champions League, which includes alongside it, the Uzbek teams Bakhtkor, the Iranian Tractor, and the winner of the Saudi Al-Wahda match and the Iraqi Air Force.

The club said in a press statement that it had sent a letter in this regard to the UAE Federation, which in turn would submit the request to the AFC, which had announced that it had opened the way for clubs participating in the new version of the continental competition that would start next April to host group matches that would be played on a regular basis. The gathering, in view of the circumstances of the Corona pandemic "Covid-19", and the precautionary measures taken by countries that make it difficult to travel and transport the participating teams.

The Sharjah Club said, "The request included a file and a detailed description of all the logistical and technical capabilities of the club, which has two football stadiums within walking distance and allows easy movement between them, in addition to a large number of well-distributed training fields, and the city is also rich in a large number of hotels. The high level, to host the participating teams and the technical administrative teams of the AFC, as well as the work and human resources teams with expertise and efficiency and qualified to organize and manage major sporting events, and the club’s facilities also provide the highest standards of security and safety in terms of following the protocols established by the higher authorities or the AFC to address the pandemic The emerging corona virus "Covid" 19 ".

The club added: “The Sharjah file in hosting group teams, which exceeds the minimum requirements of the AFC, is based on many experiences in hosting international football events, as Sharjah Stadium previously hosted one of the groups of the 2003 Youth World Cup and the 2013 Junior World Cup, the latest of which is the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
