(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Shanghai launches "viral genome detection and analysis platform", which is free and open to the public during the epidemic

China News Service, January 8th (Zheng Yingying) According to the news released by the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Resources Data Center (hereinafter referred to as the Data Center) on the 8th, the "viral genome" jointly created by the center and the Shanghai Pasteur Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences The “Detection and Analysis Platform” will be officially updated and launched in the first working week of 2021.

The platform can perform virus genetic testing and evolution analysis, and provide free online services to the society during the epidemic.

According to reports, genome sequencing is one of the etiological evidences for the confirmation of suspected cases of the new coronavirus, which is helpful for epidemic prevention and control, and various diagnosis and treatment.

The platform was jointly developed by the data center, researcher Hao Pei of the Shanghai Pasteur Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Novak, director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Warsaw University of Technology in Poland. It was launched during the epidemic in February 2020. After updating and iteration, the platform is currently It is compatible with the second-generation gene sequencing data and nanopore gene sequencing data at the same time. Users only need to upload the sample data to complete the detection with one click, and the analysis results can be obtained within 1 hour to help more comprehensive virus identification.

Li Min, deputy general manager of the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Resource Data Center, introduced that compared with the traditional in vitro culture method and fluorescent PCR method, as well as the previous second-generation virus genome identification and nucleic acid inspection, the detection range of new gene sequencing in clinical pathogenic microorganism detection Wide range and higher accuracy rate, and nanopore sequencing instruments also have the advantages of strong portability and fast sequencing speed, and can be deployed and used in hospitals of different levels.

In addition, the data center develops evolution analysis modules based on the evolutionary tree, and strives to realize functions such as "discovering new viruses, identifying transmission chains, discovering super communicators, and guiding medication plans".

It is reported that the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Resource Data Center also plans to sink the third-generation sequencing analysis platform to community hospitals and other primary medical institutions to provide it with a unified online analysis platform service.
