Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The corona investigation committee in the Brandenburg state parliament is hearing witnesses for the first time today.

Several ministers were invited, including Interior Minister Michael Stübgen (CDU), announced the AfD parliamentary group, which had enforced the committee.

The first content-related session deals with the impact of the Corona restrictions on crime - including fraud with Corona emergency aid.

Finance Minister Katrin Lange and Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach (both SPD) are also to be questioned, along with representatives from public prosecutors.

The AfD group wants to question with the committee whether the encroachments on freedom were proportionate and have helped to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

According to the previous plans, the committee wants to shed light on not only crime but also the effects of pandemics and crisis policy on the economy, the acquisition of information, the strategy for action and the effects on the health of citizens.

It remains to be seen whether the body will be ready by June as planned.

The other groups are opposed to him.
