  However, in August 2019, the Grand Court of Korea (Supreme Court) ruled on Park Geun-hye's "confidentiality in politics" case, rejected the second-instance judgment and sent the case back to the Seoul High Court for retrial.

  In the same year, the Seoul High Court also issued a second-instance verdict on Park Geun-hye's bribery case, sentenced him to five years in prison and recovered 2.7 billion won.

But the case was subsequently sent back for retrial.

  After being sent back for retrial, the Seoul High Court combined the case of Park Geun-hye's "confidential in politics" and the bribery case for trial.

  On July 10, 2020, the Seoul High Court issued a retrial on the two cases and sentenced Park Geun-hye to 20 years in prison, fined 18 billion won and recovered 3.5 billion won.

Suspects of taking bribes were sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of 18 billion won; the other suspects were sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and 3.5 billion won.

The sentence has been significantly reduced compared to previous sentences.

However, Park Geun-hye did not appeal again.
