Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - The Saarland state government is expanding the corona vaccinations with the help of family doctors.

"From April, the vaccinations will no longer be carried out exclusively in the four vaccination centers, but can also be carried out in general practitioners' practices," said the State Chancellery in Saarbrücken on Friday.

The appointments would be assigned by the practices from April 1st.

Already there are almost 4,000 corona vaccinations daily in Saarland.

"This enables us to speed up vaccination and come a lot closer to our goal of making vaccinations available locally for all those willing to vaccinate," said Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) about the planned expansion.

The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians assumes that the vaccinations will start in the practices from April 13th - provided the funds are delivered as planned.
