Göttingen (dpa / lni) - According to researchers, wearing a mouth and nose cover during a train journey is an effective way of limiting the spread of droplets and aerosols.
This is the result of a study by Deutsche Bahn and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Göttingen.
During the investigations, the breathing of a passenger with and without a mask was simulated.
The spread of droplets and aerosols was simulated with the help of artificial saliva and trace gas.
DLR Göttingen announced on Wednesday that further scientific research would be necessary for a virological assessment of possible infection risks.
The scientists explained that the air conditioning in a rail vehicle played virtually no role in the distribution of the particles to the passenger.
The results do not indicate the need to implement measures related to air conditioning.
