"Here there must be no relapse into the time before the Corona crisis, but the further development of the good approaches is necessary", he demanded.
Digitization is not an end in itself.
The aim is to go where the people are.
In addition, Rekowski spoke out against a ban on face-to-face worship services in the pandemic when it came to hygiene concepts.
At the same time, in specific dangerous situations, it could be "a responsible local and regional decision to voluntarily forego worship services."
The Evangelical Church in the Rhineland holds its synod until Friday.
Due to the corona pandemic, it is taking place completely digitally as a video conference for the first time.
The second largest Protestant church in Germany with 2.45 million members comprises parts of the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and Saarland.
