Berlin (dpa / bb) - Berlin's governing mayor Michael Müller (SPD) wants to prevent Astrazeneca vaccination doses from remaining unused in the capital, according to a report by the Tagesspiegel.
"I will not allow tens of thousands of vaccine doses to be stored in our cupboards if, at the same time, millions of people nationwide would immediately be immunized with it," said Müller to the Tagesspiegel.

"We will then offer the vaccine to others."
According to the report, the head of government wants to come to an agreement quickly with the other federal states on the procedure.
It must be examined which groups could be vaccinated with Astrazeneca next.
Müller proposes offers for teachers, educators, police and fire brigade.
But vaccinations for the retail trade and for employees in local transport are also conceivable.
"These professional groups have hundreds of contacts every day."
In the Tegel vaccination center, which Astrazeneca offers, demand has so far been “somewhat below expectations” with around 5000 immunizations, according to the health administration.
On Wednesday, the administration announced that there was no reason to change the planned vaccination sequence based on the experience with Astrazeneca.

The Astrazeneca vaccine is currently only recommended in Germany up to the age of 65.
Scientists believe that the reservations about the preparation are unfounded.
