Hildesheim (dpa) - Because of an engine failure, a 59-year-old pilot from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania had to make an emergency landing in a field north of Hildesheim Airport.

The man from Dierhagen, who was alone in the single-engine aircraft, was slightly injured, the police said.

According to previous knowledge, he started a test flight on Wednesday afternoon, but the engine failed at a height of about 100 meters.

Shortly after landing on the field in Lower Saxony, the machine overturned, according to the police, and then tipped back onto its wheels.

The pilot was taken to a hospital.
