Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The allocation of the dates for the corona vaccination in the 31 vaccination centers in Rhineland-Palatinate, which began on Monday, should improve.

Health minister Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler (SPD) announced on Wednesday in Mainz that availability by telephone will be expanded from this Thursday onwards and online appointment allocation will be accelerated.

The vaccination centers open on Thursday, but only for people over 80 years of age and for employees of homes or outpatient services who often have to do with the elderly or people in need of care.

Appointments in the vaccination centers can now be made Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and on weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. by calling 0800 5758100.

All those who have registered via the website www.impftermin.rlp.de will have their vaccination appointments by the end of the week, said Philipp Kachel from the country's vaccination documentation.

From next week on, there should be no more time delays, so an appointment can be made directly online.

At the same time, work is being done to make the discussions on the hotline even more effective and therefore faster, said Bätzing-Lichtenthäler.

Possibly there will also be additional personnel reinforcement.

Up to 70 people have worked in the call center so far.
