Potsdam (dpa / bb) - With a view to the opening of daycare centers in Potsdam on Monday, parents' representatives have called for the staff to be vaccinated quickly.

Educators and teachers would have to move into the second group in the order, said the chairman of the daycare parents' council in Potsdam, Robert Witzsche, on Thursday.

State parent spokesman Danilo Fischbach made a similar statement: "We need the best possible protection for the educators".

Fischbach called the free tests and mask requirement in Potsdam "exemplary".

He hopes that other municipalities and cities will follow the example.

In Potsdam, the daycare centers are returning to restricted regular operations with increased security measures.

The security measures include regular antigen spit tests for the total of around 2500 employees.

The city bears the costs for this.

In addition, all employees and visitors to the facilities should wear medical mouth and nose protection.

In the case of educators, this applies to work with children from the age of three.

Parents who can make it possible to look after their children at home are encouraged to do so.

According to the city, there are almost 10,000 daycare and crèche children in Potsdam.
