Blankenburg / Thale (dpa / sa) - In the Harz region, the police are looking for a traffic hooligan who almost ran over a paramedic.

The 50-year-old could only save himself by jumping to the side on Saturday, the police in Halberstadt said on Sunday.

The ambulance service had been called because the driver in Blankenburg was apparently unconscious in the car and depressed the gas pedal.

When he saw the helpers, the man drove away at full throttle, just past the paramedic.

About half an hour later the same car drove over a roundabout in Thale at the entrance to the town and damaged a traffic sign.

Despite the broken oil pan, he continued the journey.

The police are now looking for the bald man who is said to be about 1.80 tall, between 40 and 50 years old, slim and sporty.
