He said during a business meeting organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Dubai World Trade Center, on the sidelines of the 26th edition of the Gulfood 2021 exhibition, that the trade and sales of food and beverages in the country achieved growth during the period of the Corona pandemic, despite the challenges of logistical transport in the world. Pointing out that electronic sales of food and beverages have tripled, making the electronic purchase of food the new normal in the post-"Covid-19" period.

Al-Hashemi expected the continued rapid growth of the food and beverage sector in Dubai, citing a number of factors that will drive growth in the future, most notably the intensity and continuity of the vaccination campaign against "Covid-19", the renewed and new business relations with new business partners, and the organization of the Expo 2020 exhibition. The data showed that the most prominent market in Dubai in importing food and beverages during the year 2020, is India, from which Dubai imported 19% of the emirate’s total imports during the year, followed by New Zealand 13%, Pakistan 9%, then the United States 4%, and Egypt 4%, while Canada scored 4%.
