Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - Borussia Dortmund's defense chief Mats Hummels could play for Germany at the Olympic Games.

The 32-year-old, who, according to the wishes of many experts and fans, should also make his comeback in the senior national team at the European Championship, is on the corresponding Olympic list of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) according to dpa information.

This is crucial to be able to attend the games in Tokyo (July 23rd to August 8th).

On Wednesday evening, Hummels spoke with Max Kruse and Thomas Müller on the audio app Clubhouse about the topic.

Kruse is also on the list.

The coaches can nominate three players who were born earlier than 1997 to nominate the squad.

At the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, when Germany won silver, the then coach Horst Hrubesch had appointed striker Nils Petersen and the Bender twins Lars and Sven as older players in his team.
