Schwerin (dpa / mv) - High physical strain, time and emotional pressure leave massive traces of health in care workers in the elderly.

As can be seen from the nursing report of the Barmer Ersatzkrankenkasse presented on Tuesday in Schwerin, 9 percent of the auxiliary workers and 7.7 percent of the skilled workers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were on sick leave from 2016 to 2018.

The average sickness rate across all occupational groups was 6.2 percent in the northeast during this period.

“The work situation in nursing has a massive impact on the health of employees.

If they fail, colleagues are put under additional stress.

This vicious circle has to be broken ”, warned Barmer regional manager Henning Kutzbach when presenting the report.
